If you step into this quaint shop, you will see instantly feel the warmth of the interiors and the ever-smiling staff, each one passionate about writing.
The best thing about visiting Kakimori is the personal interaction that online shopping doesn't offer. You can create your own unique diaries, notebooks as well as inks (at Inkstand) and get advice on which ink or pen works best with which paper.
Kakimori has been enjoying popularity among stationery aficionados over the years and recently, the shop was relocated to a new location in Kuramae, Tokyo.
We decided to drop by and see what's new in this paradise for pen & paper lovers!Pens and Refills
This is a corner to test refills. Each refill holder is handmade using brass by Yoshikazu Takai of Tetzbo. Can you believe someone has put in so much effort for refills? It reinforces the concept of using something for a long time without disposing it.
If you love the feel of a heavy pen, you can even buy these. The price range varies and the starting price is about 8000 yen or so. You can also buy refills for these.
A fudepen, brush pen, decorated with Japanese motifs is a great present for anyone who is studying Japanese.
Paper
Paper in all forms: from tiny memo pads to letter paper. Postcards, notebooks, letter sets - you can choose from a plethora of paper types. Feel the texture of each as some are suitable for watercolor while others for fountain pens.
Inks
You can buy not only original Kakimori inks made at Inkstand but also Pilot, Sailor among other brands. You can try some of the fountain pens placed on a shelf next to the inks and choose colors of your choice.
Personal Diaries and Notebooks
Up until now, you could only get your personalized diary but now you can also get bound notebooks. Pick paper that suits your liking - grid, plain, lined - and then chose the form of binding and cover. You can also accessorize your diary!
