BAKUDAN YAKI

Bakudanyaki literally means fried bomb and is a bigger version of the popular takoyaki (octopus balls or dumplings). It's gigantic and comes in a variety of flavors. Weighing 200 grams with a diameter of over 8 cm, you definitely have to share this one from Bakudan Yaki.

DOU

The traditional version of Dorayaki is loved by Doraemon fans. At DOU, you get a slightly different version of the popular Dorayaki! Instead of being cooked, the flat cake-like base stuffed with sweet red bean paste, mochi and fresh cream is served raw.

An ideal fusion of Japanese and European sweets, if you're in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, how about trying this? As you can see the queues are quite long, so be ready to wait.

Popular for its custard apple pie!

The pie, made with plenty of butter, is crispy and light, stuffed with custard cream and chunks of apple. A perfect sweet treat on a cold winter's day.

Any chouxcream lover will want to visit this place!

Crunchy on the outside with a gooey cream stuffing that is heavenly. Depending on when you visit, you could try various seasonal items.

Mr.Waffle

A popular waffle store with many branches in Japan. We visited the one in Ikebukuro.

The restaurant uses specially selected ingredients and is totally worth the hype. If you love waffles, look up branches so you won't miss these whether you visit Ikebukuro or not.
