A relatively unknown autumn spot in Tokyo: Otaguro Park

Looking for places to enjoy autumn with fewer crowds?

Then add this to your list in Tokyo: Otaguro Park. Opened in 1981, this is the site of the former residence of Motoo Otaguro, a well-known music critic. About a ten minute walk from Ogikubo Station, this park is easily accessible from areas like Shinjuku. And no surprise, in autumn, it is absolutely spectacular.

At the entrance of the park is Ginkgo Avenue, which apparently has been around for the last 100 years.

Bird watchers love to visit this place as you can see a variety of native birds fluttering their wings around. Although the information is only in Japanese, you can still look at the pictures and try to spot these beauties.

Stone bridges, ponds, a waterfall, and various viewing pavilions dot the park. Even if you miss autumn, this is a wonderful place to enjoy a stroll.
