This year marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Japanese doughnut brand, Mister Donut. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, Mister Donut has launched a luxury, collaboration product with the popular Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini to create six high-quality desserts. These delicious doughnuts have been selling out since they went on sale on January 8. You need to line up within the specified time to get your hands on these! Don't miss this chance if you are in Japan!
This collection is made up of four Fondant Chocolate doughnuts and two danishes inspired by Pierre Marcolini's classic bonbons.
The Fondant Chocolate doughnuts ooze out a thick, dark chocolate on breaking them! Doesn't it look super scrumptious? First, let’s take a look at the Fondant Chocolat Donut: Caramel. At the bottom is a layer of chocolate chunks, and the donut in the middle contains a thick caramel chocolate sauce. Just one bite and you can savor the dense, rich taste on par with that of a professional dessert shop.
Next, we tried the Fondant Chocolat Donut: Raspberry. Made with a thick ganache cream and raspberry puree, this one is sour and sweet yet delicate and creamy. Those who like to make their own desserts will be familiar with ganache, which is made from chocolate and whipped cream.
Inspired by hazelnut bonbons, the Fondant Chocolate Donut: Hazelnut is a combination of hazelnut cream, ganache and chocolate. The hazelnut flavor although mild, complements the chocolate and is not too sweet. The white chocolate coating and sparkling dust are what make this a unique treat. If your sweetheart doesn't have a sweet tooth, this one might be best!
Although the last one is the most inconspicuous, it is the most classic chocolate flavor. The Fondant Chocolate Donut: Chocolate is a combination of three varieties of chocolate; the rich cacao and chocolate flakes make it comparable to a high-end dessert.
The fondant chocolate donuts are priced at 216 yen (tax included) for takeout, and 220 yen (tax included) for eating in-store. The danishes are heart-shaped, don't they look perfect for V-day? We queued up quite early and even then only ended up buying the white heart; unfortunately, the red heart was sold out.
Here's a photo of what we missed but you could probably get your hands on!
It is rare that you can taste the delicacy of Belgian chocolates at such a cheap price. Don't miss out on this special 50th anniversary collection if you live in Japan!
