The most exciting racecourse ever? Enjoy a day at the Tokyo Racecourse, a new sightseeing spot in Tokyo!

A completely new kind of sightseeing spot in Tokyo

If you were to name Tokyo’s typical sightseeing spots popular among foreign tourists, they would be Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, Asakusa, Odaiba, Shibuya, Harajuku and so on. But, guess what? Tokyo has many new sightseeing spots now!
Let us introduce you to Tokyo Racecourse, which is just 30 minutes away from Shinjuku by train. “What? A racecourse as a sightseeing spot?” You might be confused but don’t worry. Tokyo Racecourse is not an ordinary racecourse at all. It is, so to speak, a highly advanced racecourse! Now, let’s unlock the secrets of Tokyo Racecourse!

Fun facilities for families!

Although the typical image of racecourses may be that it is a place for adults, Tokyo Racecourse is an exception. It is a great place for families with small children and young couples too. They have a park with a lot of play equipment, a bouncy house you can jump around inside, and even ride in a miniature Shinkansen (bullet train)!
That's not it! It is a racecourse after all and you can enjoy a lot of activities related to horses! You can touch horses or interact with them, ride a horse or in a horse carriage! Surprisingly enough, all this is free of charge! All you have to pay is a 200-yen entrance fee.
The JRA Racing museum was established to introduce the history of horse racing and exhibits precious documents. You can learn a lot about horse racing here. The most recommended exhibits are Riding Vision and The Starting Gate. Riding Vision enables you to experience being on the racecourse with a screen and a robot racehorse. You can be a starter and set the race in motion with The Starting Gate exhibit.

A space so comfortable that you will want to spend more time here!

Inside the stand, everyone is surprised at how neat and clean it is. If you had the impression that a racecourse is somewhat unapproachable, it will instantly be changed when you enter this place. It is actually such a comfortable space that nobody can believe it is a racecourse. You can spend a relaxing time here.
On fine days, it is a good idea to spend some time on the lawn; even better if you bring a picnic sheet. The lawn area is just next to the track. You can have an amazing view of racehorses dashing through the course.
At the Tokyo Racecourse, you can also try various kinds of food! On one hand, there are fine-dining dishes at a restaurant run by a first-class hotel, and on the other hand, there are also snacks and fast food like ramen, soba (buckwheat noodles), and gyudon (beef bowl), as well as some food you can take out. A wide selection of delicious food is waiting for you at the racecourse!
