Tokyo’s best secret spot to see cherry blossoms is located next to Tokyo Dome!

February is almost over and spring is almost here! When we think of spring, the first image that pops to our mind is cherry blossoms, isn’t it? Indeed, many people plan a trip to Japan in spring just to see the cherry blossoms, and Tokyo has become one of the most popular destinations for cherry blossom viewing! Famous for its beautiful Japanese gardens, there are a lot of gorgeous cherry blossom viewing spots in Tokyo, but did you know that Tokyo’s best secret spot for cherry blossoms viewing is located next to Tokyo Dome City? Here, you can find a rare variety of cherry blossoms, which is hardly seen in Tokyo, and enjoy the beauty of cherry blossoms and a Japanese garden together. Today, we’re going to introduce this spot and some activities to enjoy after a wonderful cherry blossom viewing!

A beautiful Japanese garden, Koishikawa Korakuen

Koishikawa Korakuen is a Japanese garden located close to Tokyo Dome. With over an 80-year history, this garden is also designated as a special historic site as well as a national scenic beauty. Many people visit this garden to take pictures or to sketch.
This garden looks beautiful in any season, but the view of cherry blossoms in spring is the most breathtaking! You can find many kinds of cherry blossom trees lining the pond located in the center of the garden.
The age of the weeping cherry tree close to the entrance is about 60 years old. This tree offers a spectacular view when it is in full bloom in late March.
Somei Yoshino is the most popular variety of cherry blossoms, and the tree is usually in full bloom from late March to early April. In addition, Ukon Zakura, a rare variety of cherry blossoms with yellow-hued blossoms also blooms in this garden. Since it blooms later than Somei Yoshino, the cherry blossoms viewing period in Koishikawa Korakuen is slightly longer than other places.
Make sure to visit Koishikawa Korakuen for its rare variety of cherry blossoms, and use this coupon to get a 20% at the entrance! Click here to get the coupon!
Koishikawa Korakuen is open from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission is at 16:00), and the closest exit to this garden is exit C3 of Iidabashi station on the Toei Oedo line. We recommend visiting this garden early to enjoy a morning walk while admiring the breathtaking view of cherry blossoms!
