Situated on the shrine path of the popular tourist spot in Mie, Ise Jingu shrine, Cocotte Yamashita is a French restaurant, serving cocotte, which is a French dish made in a small pot. Owned by a local female chef, it is famous for its tasty and beautifully-served dishes made using local ingredients. Although most French restaurants are expensive and unapproachable, this is a casual restaurant that looks like a cafe. It also serves French cuisine for a reasonable price. That is why many locals come here.

Limited menu that you can only taste once a month!

The most recommended dish is "Tsuitachi gayu" (600 yen) which is only available on the 1st of each month. This is a set menu of rice porridge with different ingredients each month. Although it is only served early in the morning from 6:00-8:00, it is usually sold out. So if you want to try it, I recommend you to go early!

Western-style Ise udon!

"Cocotte Ise udon" (800 yen) is also a very popular dish. The specialty of Ise, Ise udon, is cooked in a cocotte-style! Inside the cocotte, there is soft and thick noodles and eggs, just like Ise udon. You can add rich sauce, melted butter or green onion on it, before eating.
