It isn’t possible to get on Engetsu-to itself, but there are glass boat tours that will take you as close as you can get to the island. The bottoms of these boats are glass so that you can see many fish swimming through the water as well as an underwater diving show.

The sunset around Engetsu-to is included in the “Top 100 Sunsets of Wakayama Prefecture,” who’s most wondrous views can be seen only during the spring and fall equinoxes. Located on the outskirts of Shirarahama is a relaxing foot bath called Mifue Ashi-yu from which one can enjoy great views of Engetsu-to. So take a load off and enjoy the sea breeze while watching Engetsu-to right next to the ocean. The foot bath is free, so it’s also very popular spot among locals.
