The first thing that comes to mind about Inokashira Park is the Inokashira Pond. On weekends, you will see families and couples taking a ride on the signature swan boats and rowing boats. One fun part is when the koi (Japanese carp) and ducks come toward you as you start pedaling. In spring, the view of sakura (cherry blossoms) reflecting on the surface is breathtaking, as is the sight of flower petals falling onto the water after swirling in the wind.

This is a popular hanami (cherry blossom viewing) spot that was chosen as one of the top 100 sakura spots in Japan. With over 500 trees of different sakura blooming, and also being close to the station, it attracts many people during the hanami season. People also enjoy hanami on boats with the amazing view of sakura from the pond. Blooming season is around late March to early April.

Apart from sakura in spring, the thriving plants and trees in summer interspersed with shaded walking paths is nice and refreshing. In autumn, the maple, cherry, ginkgo and zelkova leaves turn red and yellow and in winter, the park changes to a beautiful sight when it snows.

The main park area also has a zoo, a museum, a sculpture exhibit, and there is the Lakeside Park where you can see aquatic animals. The parks combined have over 200 animal species. The main attraction among large animals is "Hanako," the Asian elephant, and you can also see other charming and adorable animals such as the Japanese serow and raccoons.
