Cultural Exchange Exhibition Room
In accordance with its concept of "Understanding the formation of Japanese culture from the historical perspective of Asia," the museum exhibits articles that show the cultural and commercial exchanges between Japan and Asian countries, such as artifacts brought via the Silk Road. This exhibition is held about four times a year, and approximately 800 cultural artifacts of Japan and the Asian countries are on display. The museum features different exhibits throughout the year, which differentiates it from the other national museums.
Experience the Cultures of Asia at Ajippa
Ajippa is an interactive exhibition area. There are stalls from the Asian countries that held cultural exchanges with Japan and display traditional clothes, daily household items, music instruments and toys. There are many interesting exhibits that you can see, feel and play with. You will feel like you are in an Asian market. Visitors have authentic experiences putting on traditional clothes and playing the musical instruments.
Museum Shop
Following its theme of cultural exchange, the museum shop is designed to represent the ocean and characteristics of seagoing vessels. The natural light shines through the interior giving it an open feel. The shop features its unique items that are designed with the motif of the museum's collections. It also holds specialty items of Kyushu, books, Asian folk arts and sweets that are unique to the store.
Restaurant and Open Cafe
There is a restaurant called "Green House," in the annex building. When a special exhibition is held at the museum, the restaurant serves a creative menu that is inspired by the exhibition. A spacious, bright open cafe is located at the main entrance where you can rest after having an inspiring time in the museum.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine houses Sugawara-no-Michizane who is known as a deity of scholarship. This shrine is visited by people from all over the world to worship the deity of scholarship and sincerity and who also expels bad luck. It is crowded throughout the year with visitors who pray for passing exams and academic achievements.
