Inside the Tono Furusato Village, the houses constructed in Edo Period are relocated just as they used to be. The windmill by the river, rice field, charcoal burner's lodge have also been reconstructed. As a result, many movies and TV shows are shot in this nostalgic village.

In the village, there are about 20 types of farming village experience programs, including creative experiences such as pottery and vegetable dyeing, and cooking such as making mochi (rice cakes) and soba (buckwheat noodles). You can bring back your masterpiece after making it. You can also taste the food right away that you fabricated in the cooking experience programs. (Reservation is mandatory)

At the restaurant in the village, there are many dishes made using local ingredients of Iwate. I particularly recommend that you try the local cuisine "Hittsumi" which includes dumplings and the specialty of Tono, lamb barbecue.
